Kohima, January 14 (MExN): The national level Kala Utsav online Competition 2022, held at the Directorate of School Education, Kohima from January 1 concluded on January 13.

Liyalo Apong, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland said that the programme was jointly organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India and the National Council of Educational Research & Training, New Delhi.

He said that this event in the form of an art festival focuses on promoting traditional folk and classical art that reflects India's rich culture, tradition and civilization and also creates a platform to explore, exchange and experience the diverse cultural heritage of the country.

It also highlights the importance of culture and develops a better sense of identity, belongingness as well as an appreciation of other cultures, he added.

Out of 18 participants from Nagaland, 12 participants performed at the Directorate of School Education Studio. The participants took part in visual art 2D, 3D and indigenous toys and games.

He said Nagaland participated in all categories in the national level competitions. The participants along with teacher mentors from across the districts came to Kohima to perform at the Directorate of School Education Studio.  

The online Competitions concluded with traditional dance competition for both male and female category.  Students from different States and Union Territories showcased various folk dances on January 12. In Nagaland, two students from GHS Razeba, Phek and GHS Dungki, Peren represented Nagaland in the folk dance competition through online mode.

Apong meanwhile thanked all the participants, teacher mentors and heads of institutions for their active participation and cooperation. He further thanked the Special Secretary School Education, Mission Director Samagra Shiksha; and Principal Director, School Education for their visit and encouragement.  He acknowledged all the SMA staff and technical coordinators who extended help for successful completion of the program.
