Longleng, November 17 (MExN): The District Health Society Longleng launched National Newborn Week 2024 under the theme ‘Optimizing Antimicrobial use to Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance in Newborns’ at District Hospital Longleng on November 15.

A press release by CMO office Longleng informed that during the short launching programme, Dr Sanuzolu, Paediatrician DH Longleng highlighted that National Newborn Week is celebrated every year all over the country from November 15 to 21 and it aims to raise awareness about the importance of newborn care with the particular focus on addressing the growing threat of Antimicrobial resistance. 

She emphasised on the importance of newborn care as the neonatal period of life is a crucial period for child survival. She also stated that all Newborns require essential newborn care to minimize the risk of illness that maximises their growth and development. She encouraged on creating awareness and also cited that one should be careful about newborn care and their nurturing care during the delivery. She encouraged the ASHAs to follow up HBNC till the child attain 28 days after delivery.
