
DIMAPUR, APRIL 25 (MExN): The Dental Unit from Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima conducted an oral cancer screening at Mount Olive College, Kohima on April 25. This activity was carried as part of the National Oral Cancer month which is observed in April.
Dr. I Simon Sumi, District Oral Health Officer of National Oral Health Programme was the resource persons of the day. He highlighted on the risk factors and prevention of oral cancer. He also spoke on the importance of early detection and diagnosis of oral cancer which is the best preventive remedy.
A total of 210 college students were screened. Free oral kits containing toothbrush, toothpaste and IEC materials were distributed. 27 students were given free consultation by Tobacco Cessation Centre staffs namely Pele Khezhie, Psychologist and Achila Walling, social worker at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima. The Dental team consists of Dr. I. Simon Sumi, Dr. Pfukrolo Koza, Dr. Neiphrezo Soriinuo, Dr. Kemezhunuo Shiiya and Dr. Lydia Imchen.
