National Road Safety Week campaign underway

Kohima January 18 (MExN): 3 (NH) Bn Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ 5 Sect Assam Rifles organized a Road Safety Campaign on January 16, as a part of the National Road Safety Week campaign. It was an effort by 3 (NH) Bn Assam Rifles on behalf of the Government of India to spread the word of road safety across as many people as possible.     

In a press release by COL C Konwer stated that the people were cautioned on defensive driving, using personal safety measures, maintaining speed limits, understanding road or traffic signs and familiarizing themselves with the “Green Cross Code” meaning to stop, look and then cross. The areas covered were NH-29 and Jotsoma.  

In the press release the Colonel also mentioned that the campaign was aimed at giving an insight to the populace about the attrition and trauma caused to the families of the people involved in Road accidents. The concept “Road safety is the prevention and protection of road accidents by using all road safety measure” was emphasized upon.  

Various pamphlets and posters highlighting the value of road safety and its measures were also distributed.
