Peren: March 29 (DIPR): National Science Day was observed at Peren under the theme 'Raise Public appreciation on scientific issue for the Development of Nation' on March 29 at Town Hall, Peren with EAC Tsidi Hairang as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the EAC gave a brief introduction where he stated that National Science day is being celebrated across India to harness the scientific temper among the young generation. After Independence India concentrated mostly on nuclear and space development which led to neglect of our basic needs like food grain, he said further stating that changes in mindset and focus on agriculture using scientific method will lead to rise in economy for the country. He said that science need people who are more interested in questioning and reasoning and encouraged the students to adopt themselves with modern technology.
The programme was chaired by DDEO Peren, L. Toshimenla Imchen, special number was presented by GMS DC Colony and vote of thanks was delivered by SDEO Peren, Zuponi.
Mokokchung: National Science Day 2016 under the theme ‘raise public appreciation on scientific issues for the development of nation’ was observed on March 29 at Mokokchung with Asstt. Prof. Nagaland University, Dr. Neizo Puro as the guest speaker on the theme.
Altogether 20 students, representing different schools, participated with their innovative models based on the theme. The first prize was bagged by Jubilee Memorial Higher Secondary School on the topic ‘working model on use of alcohol to produce electricity’, second prize by Queen Mary Higher Secondary School on the topic ‘roof top farming in future cities’ and third prize by Town Higher Secondary School on ‘conversion of waste to electricity and heat’.
