National seminar: Human resource and economic development in India

Jakhama, August 27 (MExN): A two-day national seminar on “Human Resource and Economic Development in India: Prospects, Challenges and Strategies” organized by the Department of Economics, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama and co-sponsored by ICSSR, Shillong concluded on August 27.   The seminar saw a wide range of topics and areas on how Human Resource should be promoted so as to enhance the economic growth of the country, informed a press release received here. There were 22 papers and special talks on the topic along with scholarly discussions and enumerations.   Prof. NS Bist, Dept. of Economics and Director, Population Research Centre, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla delivered the valedictory address, wherein he appreciated the college for its sincere efforts unlike many other colleges across the country that he has seen. He also pointed out that with the focus in society regarding the economic growth in India being talked and discussed largely, only the few billionaires are growing in the country; the poorest section is never experiencing this growth.   James Karaiba, Asst. Prof., SJC, Jakhama presented the report of the two days’ technical sessions after which certificates of participation and presentation were given out by Fr. Dr. Sebastian Ousepparampil, Principal of the college.   Fr. Anthony Dukru chaired the valedictory function. In his concluding remark, he stated that everyone who attended the seminar should contribute in whatever little ways for the development of the country.   Vote of thanks was proposed by Kelengol Neikha, Asst.
