A two day national seminar on “Shaping the future of Indian Agriculture for sustainable livelihood: A SWOC Analysis” got underway at the Department of Economics, Nagaland University, Lumami. The inaugural programme of the seminar was held at Old Cafeteria, NU with Prof. A.K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor Incharge, NU as the chief guest and Meyatoshi, Deputy Director & District Horticulture Officer, Mokokchung as the guest of honor.
Speeches were given by both the chief guest and the guest of honor and the souvenir of the seminar was released by the chief guest. Prof. E. Bijoykumar Singh, Professor & President (NEEA), Manipur University, Imphal was the keynote speaker at the seminar. The keynote speaker while addressing the seminar topic stressed on the agriculture scenario in the North east region and gave a SWOC (Strength Weakness Opportunities Challenges) analysis of the agriculture scenario in the region.
The welcome address at the inaugural function was given by Prof. B. Kilangla Jamir, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Giribabu. M, Organising Secretary of the seminar. The technical sessions were held at the Department of Economics where papers were presented in two lecture halls by academicians, professors and research scholars from different universities from across the nation. The seminar will culminate on March 10.
