Kohima, May 30 (MExN): The National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) conducted its review meeting cum refresher training on at the conference hall, DH&FW May 29 and 30. Dr Vezokholu Theyo, State TB Officer chaired the programme, stated a press release. 

Dr Akuo Sorhie, Mission Director (NHM) emphasised that regular review and refresher training is very important in order to achieve the target and take the programme forward. She stated that there is significant scale up in accessibility to diagnostic facilities and treatment services.

Dr Sorhie encouraged the District to find more Nikshay Mitras who voluntarily provide food basket nutritional support and emotional support. She also agreed to adopt 10 TB patients. 

Dr Collins Z Sono, WHO Medical Consultant, highlighted about the Programme’s performance. Mon district has screened more than 3500 presumptive TB followed by Longleng district screening more than 3000 in the first quarter January–March 2024. He encouraged the district to increase the screening of presumptive TB. “This is one of the most important programme Indicators,” he added.

During the meeting, he mentioned that in 1st quarter January-March 2024, Notification Achievement was 73%, districts like Mokokchung, Wokha, Longleng, Mon and Kiphire has achieved more than an average whereas some districts need to increase. Success rate is 80% and HIV known status for TB Patients is 76%. 

All the District TB Officers presented on different indicators  like Sub-National Certification, PMTB MBA, TB Mukt Panchayat, Advocacy Communication and social Mobilization, Private Sector Engagement, Differentiate TB Care, Family Care Giver, Involvement of HWC in NTEP, TPT/3HP, ACF and Role of Service Providers (NGO) in NTEP.

The next day during the refresher training of DTOs and STSs various new  topics  programme were covered like Case Concepts, role of CDST, TPT Shorter Regime, Airborne Infection Control, ACSM, Post treatment Follow up were presented .

The meeting was attended by all the Officers and Staff of NTEP.
