The theme of the workshop was to provide a conceptual overview of major analytical techniques for material characterization, with demonstrations of selected techniques. The workshop witnessed 70 participants.

The workshop began with the presence of Sr Dr I Arockia Mary, followed by Dr R Amaravel, Convenor of MCT-2023 and Head of the Department of Physics, who welcomed the delegates and gave the welcome address.

The inaugural function was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr D Gnanadurai, Vice-Chancellor, who shared insight into the role of characterization techniques in his inaugural address. The keynote address was given by Dr K Sethupathy, Registrar. The inaugural session concluded with a benediction from Fr L Anish PRO.

This was followed by a technical programme where talks were given by invited speakers with expertise in material characterization. The two sessions had two invited talks.

The first talk was a lecture by Dr Paul Ravindran, Chief Medical Physicist, CIHSR, on Instrumentation in Radiation Dosimetry. The second session was a lecture by Dr Jyoti Prasad Borah, Associate Professor at NIT, on Magnetic Nanoparticles for biomedical applications.

The second day of the workshop was held at NIT. The morning session started with a talk by Dr Jhimli Bhattacharyya, Associate Professor of Chemistry at NIT, on the Biophysical Characterization of Protein-Ligand Interaction.

The last session was a demonstration of instruments, followed by a valedictory program. Dr AmitPuzari gave the valedictory address of the day, discussing the importance of materials characterization and techniques in the current world. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Arul Valan NIT Nagaland, who thanked all the participants for their valuable contributions and inspiring talks and also thanked the organizing committee for their efforts.
