Natural disasters: Naga Hoho requests churches to help

Kohima, May 24 (MExN): In view of the recent natural disasters which have affected hundreds of families, the Naga Hoho has resolved to request all the church denominations to jointly work with Naga Hoho in reaching out to those in distress.

In its consultative meeting with the constituent units’ presidents based in Nagaland held on May 18 at Hotel Japfü, the Hoho decided to request all the Christian denominations in Nagaland to have a special offering and prayer in one of the devotional services for the affected families and villages in Nagaland caused by cyclonic storms, a press release from Naga Hoho stated. In this regard, the Hoho has appealed to the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) to take initiative towards distributing the monetary assistance in all the affected districts.

Further, the Naga Hoho requested the concerned church authorities to pass the goodwill message to all the churches under various jurisdictions. It hoped for cooperation and support for a well deserved cause which will assist hundreds of Naga families to rebuild their lives all over again.

Meanwhile, the press release issued by Naga Hoho President, P. Chuba Ozukum and General Secretary, Mutsikhoyo Yhobu, Naga Hoho recollected that in the past, Naga churches and state government have reached out to those who have faced natural calamity both in India and abroad. “As we face a disaster of such enormity for the first time in and around our state, covering many places, the Naga Hoho feels that it is its foremost duty to reach out to our people who are at the moment desperately in need for any form of assistance.”
