Guwahati, November 4 (MExN): The Bhutan Glory Eco Club (Kiphire) was conferred The Nature Conservancy Award for “shifting the mindset” of the youth of Nagaland from hunting to connecting nature through education. This was part of the Balipara Foundation Awards, part of the 4th edition of the Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum 2017 held in Guwahati. The Forum resolved to: be more Human Centric and design community-based programmes, focus on building “Green Power” over simply generating green energy, build investment corridors instead of industrial corridors, map “Best Practices” at a landscape level instead of measuring them at an individual/organizational level, generate media stories looking beyond single species, and focus on larger trends not divided sectorally, increase the focus on indigenous knowledge through documentation and propagation, and strengthen efforts to better the lives of Mahout Communities in Assam.
