NAYO expresses concern over delayed NH-2 blacktopping work

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 26 (MExN): The Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) has expressed concern over the incomplete blacktopping and lack of maintenance on National Highway 2 (NH2) within the Northern Angami jurisdiction.

In a press release, the NAYO criticized the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) Kohima Division and M/s Nitin Sai Construction for their sluggish progress on the roadwork, which began in early 2023.

According to the NAYO, significant portions of NH2, stretching from 6.00 km to 40.00 km, remain untouched, leaving several vulnerable sections of the road still not blacktopped which is causing considerable inconvenience to the public who rely on the highway for daily commutes.

The organization has expressed frustration with the lack of progress and stressed the urgency of completing the unfinished work, especially ahead of the festive season.

“We fervently appeal to the concerned department and contractor to expedite the work and complete the blacktopping of the remaining sections before the start of the festive season,” said the statement from NAYO. "It is of paramount concern that these unfinished portions are addressed with urgency," it added.

The organization made it clear that it would not remain a passive observer and would actively pressure the authorities until the roadwork is completed to the satisfaction of the public.
