Kohima, August 3 (MExN): The Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO), comprising of 32 villages and a good portion of the urban areas in Kohima, expressed concerns in regard to the extension of lockdown in the state capital by District Task Force and Government of Nagaland.

The NAYO in a press release stated that it is severely concerned for the well being of the citizens as total lockdown has rendered most of them jobless and adding to their miseries, many businesses are taking advantage of the situation and sky-rocketed the price of the commodities.

“This hazardous practice is condemnable and while cautioning the business fraternities, the NAYO also tip its volunteers to strictly monitor the price lists set by KMC in their respective colonies so as its citizens will not be victimized,” the organisation stated while requesting the DTF “to review the present system of permitting only some few groceries pocket wise in the colonies as its not only bias but also invite monopoly.”

The NAYO also mentioned that the lockdown has greatly affected the day to day normal lives to a great extent and gave rise to local crime, theft and robbery in the society. While assuring all support to the police in fighting against any crime act, the Organisation lauded the SP and his team of police for their prompt actions and for keeping the law and order inspite of the sorry state of affairs in the state.

Meanwhile, NAYO reiterating its support to the Government of Nagaland to fight the COVID-19 pandemic also made the appeal to look into the matter and find an alternative for the total lockdown in the near future.

It also extended its support and solidarity to the frontline workers, police and the administration.
