NBCC 77th annual council concludes

Kohima: The 77th annual council of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, which was held at Zunpha hosted by the Council of Rengma Baptist Churches under the theme “In Step with the Spirit” concluded on February 9.

The last day of the programme opened with a Bible study by Dr. Along Jamir, Associate Director Translation, BSI, Shillong. He spoke on the topic “In Step with the Spirit – Prayer.” Rev. Narola, Women Secretary NBCC, led the devotional worship service while Rev. Andrew Semp, Pastor, Rengma Baptist Church Dimapur read the bible and prayed.

Er. Levi Rengama, Deputy Speaker, NLA brought the greetings and welcomed the gathering to the culture and lives of the Rengmas. The Sumi Baptist Church Kohima presented choreography and special music by the Nagaland Conservatory of Music Choir and NBCC Staff. The morning service concluded with the message from Rev. Dr. John V. Upton, President Baptist World Alliance (BWA). In his message, he mentioned that we are and we make the BWA along with all the Baptist over the world. In relation to the theme “In Step with the Spirit”, he stressed that if we want to walk with the Holy Spirit we have to allow God to have our lives, let God bless it, break it and open it to work miracles through us.  

The host association presented a special programme titled “The World of Rengmas” where different Rengma cultures and dances were displayed. There was also a farewell programme for the three outgoing NBCC Officials, Rev. R. P. Murry, Finance Secretary, Rev. Dr.  I. Wati Longkumer, NMM Director and Dr. Hukashe A. Zhimomi, Director NDO.

In the closing service a special time of installation of Rev. Andrew Semp as the new Director of NMM was held. The service was chaired by Kakheli I. Jimomi, Vice President, NBCC. Rev. Phomless Van, Pastor, Phom Baptist Church, Kohima read the scripture and invoked God’s blessing. Rev. Dr. I Wati Longkumer offered the offertory prayer. Rev. Dr. John V. Upton spoke on the theme “In Step with the Spirit” where he mentions that we are the body of Christ and that no one is a body by himself or herself. God has gifted us to be a member of his body and so as a member we need to walk in the Spirit. The Nagaland Conservatory of Music Choir and Choreography by the Sumi Baptist Church Kohima brought special music.

NBCC in a press note expressed its gratitude to CRBC for hosting the annual session and also to all the associations and churches under NBCC for their cooperation, love and support toward the Council.  Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) will host the next NBCC annual Mon.
