NBCC Clean Election Campaign at NU Lumani

Kohima, August 8 (MExN): NBCC Youth team for Clean Election Campaign was held with the Nagaland University, Lumami on August 5. Dr. Neizo Puro, Asst. Professor, NU delivered a welcome address while Rev. Dr. Mechiehol Savi and Hekato Awomi, President, NBCCYD spoke and challenged the gathering.  

Rev. Dr. M. Savi in his speech pointed out that life, freedom of will; identity and date of birth are God given birth rights and should be utilized properly in the context of Nagaland to conduct clean election. The two main problems in our state are: spiritual problem and social problem where election is one acute social problem. By citing MM Thomas about the role of the Church, he says that the Church can involve in three ways: prophetic criticism, constructive participation and righteous reconciliation.  

Besides this, he challenged the NU students to look at the life of Gandhi who brought the British empire to her knees in transferring power with his weapon of non violent resistant. In the context of discrimination based on skin color, Martin Luther King Jr took the challenge and brought equality in social life in America. Both the activist followed three words: conviction, determination and participation. “To take part in Clean Election Campaign, life may be threatened but if we follow these three words, it can become a reality in our state,” he added.

 A press release stated that Khrievi Sahu, Youth Coordinator NBCC administered signing of Pledge Card. Youth Secretary Vikuo Rhi gave an introductory note also led the interaction session. Toshi Sanglir YS ABAM pronounced the benediction.
