Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): Expressing deep concern that the people are suffering in the hands of underground cadres, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) today reminded all that there are ways other than “fire” to solve problems. The NBCC was making particular reference to the recent razing of Inavi village by the NSCN-IM. Highlighting the instance, the NBCC Peace Affairs committee lamented that the Inavi arson is another instance of the NSCN-IM’s highhandedness. “The recent burning down of Inavi village is again another highhandedness of the NSCN-IM… we are deeply concerned for the suffering public in the hands of national workers” the NBCC stated in a message issued through its Peace Affairs’ Director, Rev. Kari Longchar. It reminded that 500 houses, granaries along with the church building and the now-homeless villagers had fallen prey to the fire. The homeless are scattered in and around the village area and in miserable conditions, the NBCC informed. “There are other ways than using fire to solve any problem” the church said. The NBCC has urged the NSCN-IM to “stop burning villages henceforth.” Churches are also appealed to pray for and support the ‘victimized Inavi villagers.’
