
Kohima, August 4 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) platinum jubilee (April 19-22, 2012), the environment & sanitation committee initiate educate and awareness programme in schools and colleges about civic sense keeping a better environment, keeping the city clean and under this programme churches will observe a Sanitation Sunday.
There will be twice social work by the churches (Baptist) and with KMC, KCCI, KBPF, Kohima district administration and colony by panchayat. The NBCC platinum jubilee environment and sanitation committee urged the public (Nagas and non Nagas) to participate in making the city clean and make Kohima a greener, cleaner place to live in.’
In the meantime, the committee appreciated the de-centralized sanitation service in the state capital, jointly launched by the KMC and Kohima DPDB. The committee hoped that through this service, the citizens and particularly the colony panchayat would take more pro-active role in keeping the colony and city in better image.
“The sanitation fee is an encouraging more and usage the public to cooperate in this venture,” the committee said. It also lauded the Chandmari Panchayat for making the colony a dustbin free zone, the High school area colony and Nagabazar colony for keeping their colony clean and appreciated the participation of public in these colonies. “With the introduction of decentralized sanitation service, the other colonies should come up with commendable job in sanitation,” it said and hoped that the KMC work load will be cut down and is expecting a better job in coming days.
