KOHIMA, JULY 14 (MExN): A delegation from the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), led by its president Rev Achu Chang, participated in the 23rd Baptist World Congress held in Brisbane, Australia, under the theme “Living the Good News.”
The five-day quinquennial event, hosted by the Australian Baptist Union, a member of the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation, drew representatives from 134 countries, including a 30-member team from Nagaland.
The Congress was marked by significant participation from the NBCC. Dr Kethoser Kevichüsa of NBCC spoke at a plenary session on “Living the Good News in the Power of the Holy Spirit.” Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary of NBCC, led a Bible study session on “Living the Good News as Disruptable Disciples.”
A highlight for the Nagaland delegation was the conferring of the Quinquennial Human Rights Award on Sano Vamuzo, an NBCC member, in recognition of her contribution to society and service to the Naga community.
The NBCC delegation also showcased Naga culture through performances by the Chele Singers, presenting music and cultural traditions before the global Baptist community.
Reflecting on the experience, an NBCC spokesperson said the Congress was “a reminder that God has called the Nagas to His mission beyond our own circle. We must continue to take the message of the Good News to places where it has not been heard.”
The delegation returned with a sense of gratitude and learning, thanking all those who supported them in prayers.
