NBCC Youth Dept to plant Moringa tree on May 18

Kohima, May 16 (MExN): The Youth Department of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) will be organising a tree plantation drive on May 18.

The purpose of this drive is in pursuance and fulfilling the commitment of NBCC taken during the Sesquicentennial (2022) which seeks to encourage its members to actively participate in the task of creation care, taking our duty and privilege and privilege custodians of the earth seriously, and working towards retaining her original state of goodness (Gen.1:10, 18, 21, 25), the Youth Department, NBCC stated in a press release.

“In this regard the Youth Board of NBCC voted to initiate to plant Moringa tree, which is also referred to as the magic tree indigenous to northern parts of India but also located in other tropical and subtropical places having valuable nutritional values and multiple potential medicinal benefits,” it stated. 

Through the press release NBCC Youth Secretary, Rev Suhuto Chishi has informed that “all the Associations and Associates members under NBCC are prepared to actively participate in this event with tree saplings totaling to about one lakh for plantation to be planted around the church and compound own by households.”

The NBCC office has appealed “the churches to attempt to lend a green touch to the environment and sensitize the people about their role in conserving it through their participation in this drive.”
