KOHIMA, JUNE 2 (MExN): Under the aegis of TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, the Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) launched New Showuba VDVK and distributed tools and machinery at New Showuba village on May 31.

Speaking on the occasion, NBHM chairman Obed Quinker highlighted the significant opportunities being extended by the PMJVM Scheme for Self Help Groups (SHGs) to enhance their income.

This scheme offers a chance to leverage the abundant local resources in the state, thereby benefiting community's livelihoods, he said.

Quinker stressed the importance of recognizing the marketing potential of various Minor Forest Products like Hill broom and bamboo broom, noting their high demand in other parts of the country.

He urged SHGs to efficiently utilize these resources and strive for greater success.

Quinker appealed Van Dhan members to work together cohesively and make effective use of the provided tools and machinery.

Further, he underscored the importance of forming Van Dhan clusters in villages as a means to generate income and foster self-sustainability among tribal communities in the state.

Earlier, Mhathung T Tsopoe, Project Coordinator and Team Member of NBHM outlined the objectives and guidelines of PMJVM scheme to the VanDhan members. Khumkiula, Village Facilitator highlighted the activities of existing SHGs in the clusters.

Village Council Secretary Ananchuba also spoke at the programme. The programme concluded with dedication of machineries and prayer by Kiujimkhiung, Pastor of Loyir Baptist Church.
