Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) chairman Obed Quinker inaugurated Quality Stock Bee Multiplication Centre at N. Longidang village under Wokha district on June 27.

In his address, Quinker stated that the centre was established in Longidang village in recognition of the zeal and commitment shown by local para-apiarists.

He emphasized that this centre would serve as the epicenter for beekeeping development in Wokha district, and acknowledged the support and vision of Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio for prioritizing beekeeping as a viable and sustainable livelihood sector alongside others.

Quinker also highlighted that this facility is the first of its kind in Wokha district, with the potential to benefit not only the local community but also the broader North Eastern region, eventually becoming a center of excellence for beekeeping activities.

He encouraged beekeepers to remain dedicated and proactive in their work, drawing inspiration from Renphamo Murry, a para-apiarist whose dedication played a key role in realizing the project.

Sentiwapang Aier, Additional Secretary to Chief Minister and Team Leader of NBHM, shared that the establishment of the Quality Stock Multiplication Centre has been a long-cherished dream of the Mission.

With this facility now completed, it fulfills the vision of creating a common training and resource center, he said.

He also emphasized the importance of self-reliance, urging the community not to depend solely on government schemes, but to take proactive steps towards economic upliftment through sustainable practices.

Er Khuvozoyi Vese, Deputy Team Leader NBHM gave a detailed briefing on the engineering specifications and functional aspects of the newly constructed facility. He explained that the location was strategically chosen due to its suitability for beekeeping and its accessibility for the local population.

Nzanbemo K Lotha highlighted the objectives and expected impact of the center, emphasizing its role in advancing beekeeping practices and development in the district and Nagaland in general.

Earlier, similar Quality Stock Bee Multiplication Centre was also inaugurated at Mima village on June 26 last.

Inaugurating the centre there, Obed Quinker was hopeful that the centre  would positively impacting the entire Kohima district, and thereby fulfilling the broader objectives of the initiative.

Kohima district has been a priority area for beekeeping projects since the inception of NBHM, due to its rich potential and the active participation of many dedicated beekeepers, he stated.

The event was chaired by Nelazonu, Team Member in charge of Kohima district.
