The website of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has been successfully restored as of October 30. The website was temporarily shut down on October 25 following what the Board described as a “server attack” that occurred that day.
In an update on the attack, the NBSE informed the public on October 29 that its technical team was collaborating with the hosting service provider to examine the cause and restore access to the portal as quickly as possible.
A day after on Wednesday, the Board announced that the portal had been successfully restored and that all users could visit it for information or tasks related to schools or the Board.
While the full extent of the server attack remains uncertain, the NBSE has reported damage to some media files.
In a notification issued to all registered schools under the NBSE on October 30, the Board stated that the media files containing photos and signatures of regular students in the forms submitted for the HSLC & HSSLC Examination 2025 were “corrupted/damaged” during the server attack.
Accordingly, it urged all Heads of Institutions to either resubmit or re-upload the photos and signatures of their regular students. To facilitate this process, the portal will be open from November 1-13 for the resubmission of media files.
While regretting the inconvenience caused, the Board also solicited the support and cooperation of all schools.
A quick perusal of the NBSE’s website and the Board’s October 30 notification indicated that the ‘server attack’ appeared to have specifically targeted the sections related to the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations 2025. The forms for these exams were filed from September 17-30.
For instance, in the notification section, the link to “Filling up of Forms for HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2025,” dated September 9, 2024, returned a “404 Page Not Found” error. Likewise, in the circular section, the entry for “HSLC and HSSLC Examination 2025,” dated September 27, showed the same message.
