The second achievers night of the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) was held at Zone Niathu by the Park, Chümoukedima on September 21.

A total of 23 individual and two team awards were presented to the players for their outstanding performance throughout the 2023-24 season.

In addition to these awards, three players were recognized for their feats during particular tournaments. Sentilemla Imsong for being the first woman cricketer from the Northeastern states, to score a half-century in BCCI Zonal Tournament 2023-24. Neizekho Rupreo was awarded the highest wicket taker in Col C K Nayudu Trophy 2023-24 and AlotoSumi as emerging player award.

Special guest for the event, Chairman, NIDC Government of Nagaland & Director of Tetso College, Kvulo Lorin congratulated the players for achieving their respective awards. Through this, he noted the growth and popularity of cricket in Nagaland and considered the immense financial potential it has for those seeking to play professionally. “When the NCA was first formed no one thought it would reach this stage,” he said.

Lorin viewed that the current set of players were trailblazers in their own right and that, it is only a matter of time before Nagaland breaks through to the national or international stage.

For those who missed out on the awards this year, he encouraged them to keep persevering and continue in their passion for the sport.

Secretary of NCA, Hyunilo Anilo Khing, meanwhile, mentioned that the ceremony is being held to celebrate the game and recognize the achievements of each individual. In the last six years the NCA have seen lot of success and challenges, he said. Yet, he stated that the association has grown exponentially.  The event had in attendance representatives from different district cricket associations.
