NCA to host Senior Men's & Boys U-16 Inter-District Tournaments from April

DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): Nagaland Cricket Association has announced that the Inter-District Senior Men's (one-day matches) tournament 2024 and the Boys Under-16 (multi-days) Inter-District Tournament 2024 will both commence in the month of April and will run till May.
 

The Senior Men's Inter-District Tournament will be played from April 23 till May 7 at Nagaland Cricket Stadium and Sovima Cricket Ground, while the Boys Under-16 (Multi Days) Inter-District Tournament will be played from April 25 till May, a press statement issued by Nagaland Cricket Association has informed. 
 

In a first for the Boys Under-16 category, the tournament will be played in three different venues of Nagaland encompassing three districts with Peren District hosting Group-A of Peren, Chümoukedima and Niuland, while Kohima District will be hosting Group-B with District teams of Kohima, Dimapur and Tseminyu. Mokokchung District will host Group-C with District teams of Mokokchung, Wokha and Zunheboto. The tournament will be played in the multi-days format in accordance with the playing conditions of the BCCI. The top qualified teams of each group will then play the next round at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
 

The Men's Senior Inter-District will be played in one day matches format (50 overs). Also for the first time, the bottom 7 teams, as per records of the past tournaments, will play qualifying rounds amongst themselves and hereafter proceed for the final rounds to be played with the top  6 District teams.
 

The teams to be playing the qualifying rounds are Zunheboto, Mon and Kiphire placed in Group- A whilst Group-B comprises of Phek, Tseminyu, Longleng and Peren. Winners from both the qualifying groups will move on for the final rounds where the top 6 district teams await their entry.
 

For the final rounds in Group-A, the team comprises of Mokokchung, Kohima, Dimapur and the winner of qualifier Group-A, and in Group-B are Niuland, Wokha, Chümoukedima and the winner of qualifier Group-B.
 

With the progress of Nagaland Cricket and the opportunity to represent the State in the various formats in domestic cricket under keen observation of BCCI, the players will be under surveillance and closely monitored by selectors of NCA. Those selected will be shortlisted and further called for selection trials and to attend the camps under professional coaches in the State and outside for the next seasons calendar year.
