
DIMAPUR, JUNE 7 (MExN): Saramati Warriors on Wednesday defeated Tiyi Strikers by 10 wickets on day-3 of the 2nd edition of the Women’s Champions Trophy organized by the Nagaland Cricket Association.
With both teams coming from a back-to-back win, it was a crucial match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium as who will lead in the points table.
Saramati Warriors after winning the toss chose to field first and restricted Tiyi Strikers to 118 runs on the scoreboard. For the Strikers, captain Sentilemla carried her elite form and scored another brilliant 88 runs but she could not find support from her compatriots and her team had to settle for 118 runs. Watinaro and Sariba picked up 2 wickets each while Nitu took 1 wicket for the Warriors.
With Saramati Warriors on the bat, opening duo of Jyoti Thapa 48 runs and Vipeni 39 runs made batting look easy as they chased down the target of 119 in 19.5 overs without losing any wickets and guiding their team to the top of the table with 6 points. Player of the match was awarded to Vipeni of Saramati Warriors.
The 2nd match at Nagaland Cricket Stadium between Pauna Queens and Terogvu Titans and the 3rd match at Sovima Cricket Ground between Japfü Dazzlers and Puliebadze Slingers had to be abandoned due to rain.
