Kohima, July 7 (MExN): The 1 Nagaland Air Squadron NCC concluded its Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) and Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp at Patkai Christian College, Dimapur. The camp commenced on June 27 and saw participation from over 400 Air Wing Cadets from various districts of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Assam.

During the 10-day camp, cadets engaged in a variety of military, sports, and cultural activities. "Physical Training (PT) sessions are an integral part of military life and were conducted daily to ensure cadets maintained good physical fitness levels," a press release from the PRO, Ministry of Defence informed.

The cadets also participated in rigorous drill practices, weapon training sessions, and public speaking workshops. “Precision and discipline were instilled through rigorous drill practices, emphasizing teamwork and coordination,” the release stated. “Weapon training sessions provided invaluable hands-on experience, acquainting cadets with the fundamentals of handling firearms safely and effectively,” it added.

The camp also included a tree plantation drive. The Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp not only served as a preparatory ground for cadets but also as a platform for selecting exceptional talent to represent the North-Eastern Region at the prestigious All India Vayu Sainik Camp.

Aeromodelling sessions allowed cadets to delve into the fascinating world of constructing and flying model aircraft, honing their creativity and engineering skills. A comprehensive study of aviation subjects deepened their understanding of aeronautics, navigation, and the principles of flight, preparing them for future challenges in the realm of aviation.

The selection process for the All India Vayu Sainik Camp was rigorous. Cadets were evaluated on their technical proficiency, leadership potential, and commitment to the values of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). “Those selected exemplified exceptional performance across all training modules, demonstrating a blend of skill, dedication, and exemplary conduct,” remarked the press release.

1 Nagaland Air Squadron was declared the winner of the Inter-Unit Competition during the camp.
