The NCC combined annual training camp conducted by 1 Naga Girls Battalion NCC under the aegis of NCC Gp HQ Kohima, at Livingstone Foundation International School, concluded on July 11 with DGP Nagaland, T John Longkumer, gracing the closing function as chief guest.
Addressing the young cadets, the DGP said the NCC credo “Unity & Discipline” is the core value of not only the NCC but the country as a whole. Longkumer said for a country as large and diverse as India, unity is supreme.
Calling the youth as the future of the state and country, he urged the young cadets to learn to distill their thoughts and aspirations and focus on what their aim in life. Terming NCC as the base or nursery of nation building, the police chief stressed on discipline and said it is only by inculcating and maintaining discipline that a person can succeed in life.
Congratulating the cadets for successful completion of training, Longkumer further said NCC certificate is the key to open employment doors in police and defence departments.
Earlier, the DGP took the salute of the all girls NCC parade contingent.
Commissioner of police, Dimapur, Limasunep Jamir, and chairman Livingstone Foundation International School, Dr. Andrew Ahoto also exhorted the cadets.
NCC cadets representing schools and colleges of various districts took part in the cultural extravaganza titled “Culture makes people understand each other better.”
A total of 436 NCC cadets including 31 boys attended the combined training camp, which got underway on July 3 last.
