NCC combined annual training camp conducted

Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The combined annual training camp for cadets of Nagaland state commenced at Home Guard and Civil Defence Training Centre, Toluvi village on February 17 last. The camp was attended by cadets of 24 NL (I) Coy NCC, 25 NL (I) Coy NCC, 66 NL Girls (I) Coy NCC and conducting unit No. 1 (NL) Air Sqn (Flying)  NCC and would be spending the next 10 days participating in various NCC training activities.
The Commandant for the camp, Squadron Leader S Akheto Jakhalu, Commanding Officer of No. 1(NL) Air Sqn (Flying) NCC Sqn based at Dimapur on deputation from Indian Air Force, in the inaugural address explained the aim and objectives of the camp to the participating cadets, is to build up leadership qualities, discipline, positive attitude, improve awareness and be responsible and accountable citizens of the society, stated a press note received here today. The various training activities in the camp include aero modeling workshop, Disaster Management and first aid classes by Nagaland Home Guards, parasailing demonstration, small arms firing, drill, games, cultural extravaganza, Tae Kwando self defence classes, trekking, visit to 24 Assam Rifles (small arms display) and air traffic control tower,  Dimapur airfield. In addition, lecture classes on SSB, leadership by Group Commander and camp commandant, tech and non-tech subjects by staff of the unit.
The note said that during the camp NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations were conducted for the cadets of the state on February 22 and 24 and was presided by Col. Abhay Singh, Group Commander, Kohima Group. The camp commandant encouraged the cadets to utilize the certificates for incentives in public/private sector and central government jobs. Cadets with NCC ‘C’ certificate with ‘B‘grading (50% marks in graduation) and wanting to join armed forces as officers, are exempted UPSC written exam and called for SSB interview directly. Presently 05 Air NCC cadets of No.1 (NL) Air Sqn NCC are undergoing SSB interview at Allahabad utilizing the ‘C’ certificates for the 29th NCC Special Entry Scheme for officers’ cadre.
Camp commandant extended thanks to Nagaland Home Guards and Civil Defence for camp location, DEF Dimapur for security, DIG (Trg) NAPTC, 24 Assam Rifles under 5 Sector HQ for logistic support and small arms display, AAI Dimapur, Med Branch, 3 Corps, 4003 Field Hospital, Rangapahar for admin support and cooperation for smooth conduct of the ongoing camp, it stated.
