NCC combined annual training camp underway in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, March 15 (MExN): 24 Nagaland Independent Company NCC (24 NL (I) Coy) is conducting its Combined Annual Training Camp at 78 CRPF Coy’s location at DEF Colony in Mokokchung from March 11-20.   A press release informed that a record total of 658 NCC cadets from various schools and colleges in all 11 districts of the State are participating in the camp, which is being conducted by Lt Colonel Shamsher Singh, the newly appointed Commanding Officer.   Lt Colonel Shamsher Singh has been the Commanding Officer of the Army Mountaineering Institute, Siachen Glacier. He himself has been a distinguished mountaineer of Indian army, the release said.   Meanwhile, Brigadier MS Nikam, Group Commander, Nagaland state NCC Group, has come from Kohima to oversee the training. He has complimented the NCC staff of 24NL (I) Coy and 1 Naga Girls Battalion for being able to congregate a record number of 658 cadets for the camp, the release said. He further lauded the efforts taken by the cadets to reach the camp from far flung and interior areas of whole of Nagaland. He also complimented the school/college principal and NCC staff for organizing their transport to Mokokchung.

  According to the release, the camp is laying more emphasis on firing apart from the other aspects of training so that cadets of Nagaland NCC can reach to the finals of National Firing competition. Both the girl and boy cadets have been put through systematic weapon training before they are actually firing on to the targets, the release said.   The camp will culminate on March 20 after the cadets appear in various NCC certificate examinations.
