NCC Kohima group celebrates 72nd Raising Day

Kohima, November 22 (MExN): The 24 Nagaland (Independent) Company, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Kohima under the aegis of Kohima Group, NCC celebrated its 72nd Raising Day on November 22.

Updates from the Commanding Officer, 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC informed that the celebration at all the institutions started with the hoisting of the National Flag followed by various activities across the state.

All NCC officers and cadets enthusiastically took part in the activities that included tree plantation, run for health, painting competition, cleanliness drive etc. The cadets also took the opportunity to spread awareness and precautions to be taken against prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, necessity of being vigilant and generated a sense of patriotism amongst all NCC Cadets, it stated.

The release stated that ‘Run for health’ was also organized jointly by Japfu Christian College and Kigwema Government High School with the aim to spread importance of regular physical exercise and create awareness among family and friends about the need to keep oneself fit and lead a healthy life.

A large number of medicinal and ornamental plants were also planted by cadets of Kohima Science College. The cadets were also apprised on the importance of maintaining the delicate environmental balance, the release stated.

After the ceremony light refreshments were also provided to the participating cadets. Col Daniel Lotzem, Commanding Officer of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, Kohima on behalf of Group Commander Brigadier Vengugopal, SM and all officers of Kohima Group NCC extended appreciation to all participating NCC officers, cadets and the Forest Department, Kohima who provided free tree saplings on the occasion.
