Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): A twelve days Special National Integration Camp of NCC concluded here today at Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima with Khriehu Liezitsu Parliamentary Secretary, Youth Resources Sports and Music Task Force, presiding over the concluding ceremony.
Col Ananya Boral, Commanding Officer of 37 Assam Rifles; Neilahoulie, Additional Director of YRS; and Dr Ilyas Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, were also present during the closing ceremony.
Around 600 cadets of National Cadets Corps (NCC) from 17 Directorates (Dte) from all the corners of the country and around 100 cadets from the North East Region attended the Special National Integration Camp, a press note from the camp informed. Brig MS Nikam, Group Commander, Group HQ Kohima commanded the camp.
The Parliamentary Secretary while greeting the cadets from various corner of India likened the gathering to a ‘mini-India’ bubbling with energy and exuberance and noted that NCC has been empowering youth in this country and instilling in them qualities of courage, intelligence, character and leadership.
The 12 days multi-event camp saw active participation from all the cadets competing in various events like national integration awareness competition, declamation, solo and group song and dance competitions.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Disaster Management Activities were conducted in an around Chumukedima while educational visits to Kohima and 37 Assam Rifles were also conducted.
The cadets also competed in games and sports such basketball (Boys), volley Ball (Girls) and Tug of War (Mixed).
During the camp, dignitaries such as Maj Gen Deepak Saxena VSM, of HQ 3 Corps, Major General M S Jaswal, YSM, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) and Brig H S Cheema, Commnder of 44 Infantry Brigade addressed the cadets on Role of Youth in National Building, Ways to Achieve National Integration, Avenues of Entry in Armed Forces and Importance of Discipline and Unity.
At the end of the camp, Cadet Aditya R. Nath of Karnataka & Goa Dte was awarded the Best Cadets prize while Cadet Deepika Joshi of Uttarakhand Dte and Cadet Dubey of Uttar Pradesh Dte bagged best prize for Cultural events.
The overall prize for group performance went to Delhi and Maharashtra.
