NCC raise awareness on water conservation

Kohima, March 22 (MExN): 1 Nagaland (G) Bn NCC under the aegis of NCC group HQ, Kohima observed World Water Day on March 22 in all the 11 districts of Nagaland through its institutions.  

A total of 300 cadets across the districts participated in the drive to ‘Save Water Save Life’ by means of various events like poster making, essay writing, lecture, presentation, rallies, demonstrations and took pledge to save water and create awareness in the society, according to a press release received here.  

The initiative, the release said, aimed to focus attention on the importance of fresh water and advocating for sustainable management of fresh water resources.  

25 Nagaland Independent Company NCC Mokokchung also observed the day by creating awareness on water conservation and storage. Classes were held for the NCC cadets to impart awareness on the same in Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Tuensang and Zunheboto. Thereafter, the cadets with posters and placards in vernacular language rallied through the lanes of the districts HQ thereby generating awareness on importance of water conservation by saving water, reducing and reusing wastewater and rain water harvesting, a separate press release informed. The importance of rain water harvesting, storage and saving of water were adequately explained in the classes by professionals of various government and semi government water conservation agencies, the release added.
