Kohima, May 18 (MExN): The NCC Senior Wing of St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama/1 Nagaland Girls’ Battalion NCC-Kohima visited its adopted village, Kezo Basa Village. During the visit, they organised an awareness programme on civil defence and healthcare, and tree plantation as activities of social service and community development of NCC on May 17.

The visit team comprised of 20 cadets, Col Lovelesh Panghal, Commanding Officer, 1 NL BN NCC, one Associate NCC Officer and two PI Staff. At the outset, a small tree plantation was carried out where 20 orange saplings were planted by cadets and villagers together. The programme commenced with an invocation by LCPL Neivitsono Kehie followed by CO’s address and felicitation of the Village Chairman.

The awareness talk on Civil Defence was given by SGT Thushila Yimchunger and on Healthcare by CDT Rokobino Yongo and a special number presented by CDT Trolila Sangtam. The concluding speech was delivered by Ma. Regina Razousinuo, ANO (SW), SJC and Medovi Yongo, Chairman, Kezo Basa Village Council. The programme was chaired by CPL Tania Ferdous. 25 residents of the village attended the programme. The team contributed 110 self-made hard brooms and 60 dust pans of eco-friendly materials to the village besides snacks and fruit drinks.
