NCC workshop held at St Joseph’s College Jakhama

DIMAPUR, MARCH 15 (MExN): A one day workshop was organised, under the aegis of 66 Nagaland Girls Battalion NCC, Kohima commanded by Lt Col Joy Choudhury, at St Joseph’s College, Jakhama on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The aim of the workshop was to provide the Cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) an insight into what is expected of them, at the Services Selection Board, for selection and recruitment, as Officers, into the Indian Armed Forces.
According to a press note from Lt Col Joy Choudhury, selection of personnel is the principal step, leading to the long term health and growth of any organisation. Recruitment of officers, for the Armed Forces, is done based on personality assessment, with three techniques, viz interview, group tasks and psychological tests, to make it a three pronged selection system. The aim of that process is to select the best suited individual for a particular job. It is perhaps the most scientific and elaborate process to be found in any organisation, in the world, stated the press note.
The Workshop was led by the Group Commander, NCC Group Kohima, Colonel Abhay Singh, who has had intensive experience, as the Interviewing Officer, at one of the Services Selection Boards. In addition to this, he is principally involved in the design and conduct of the NCC effort, in running Personality Development Capsules, at the Officers Training Academy (OTA’s) at Gwalior (for Senior Wing, Girls) and Kamptee, Nagpur (for Senior Division, Boys)  for grooming NCC Cadets for entry into the Armed Forces.
A total of 18 Senior Wing (Girls) and 10 Senior Division (Boys) cadets of the 2nd and 3rd Year graduation course attended the workshop.  These were Cadets, keenly desirous of joining the Armed Forces, identified and selected by Lt Regina Razousinuo, the Associate NCC Officer (and Lecturer, History, St Joseph’s College, Jakhama)
It is the aim of the NCC in Nagaland to continue these workshops, as a process, identifying those desirous of a career in the Armed Forces and grooming them in their preparation for a Career in the Armed Forces, stated the press note from Lt Col Joy Choudhury.
