Nagaland Community Conserved Area Forum (NCCAF) celebrated World Environment Day with Mt Pauna Biodiversity Conservation Forum at Benreu village on June 5.
A brief formal programme was organised at Council Hall, Benreu village where Heirang Lungalang, Chairman, NCCAF gave the welcome address. He encouraged everyone to take forward the spirit of conservation in our respective areas.
Tokugha Sumi, Vice Chairman, NCCAF, gave a briefing outline of the workings and functions of NCCAF and also a brief significance of WED. He said that since the creation of earth by God our forefathers have lived sustainably in peace with nature but our generation has ruined the environment. He said that everyone needs to know the concept of conservation and educate the community.
After the formal programme, NCCAF office bearers and Members of the Mt Pauna Biodiversity Conservation Forum underwent plantation of Rhododendron saplings in and around Benreu village. 11 villages from the forum attended the celebration along with Benreu Village council members and NCCAF office bearers.
