Kohima, March 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Community Conserved Areas Forum (NCCAF) had its second annual general meeting on March 16 at Hotel Japfu Kohima.
The Forum, along with five other resolutions resolved to practice and propagate the slogan ‘No to Polythene’ for a plastic free Nagaland.
The meeting was attended by more than 30 members from different Community Conserved Areas (CCAs) of Nagaland and the supporting agencies from the state government like Forest Department, NEPED and Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), a NGO from the North East.
During the meeting, a PowerPoint presentation was given by Alakesh Malla Baruah, Project Manager FES, where the participants were enlightened about the urgent need of restoring an ecological balance in the state through the different CCAs.
Sidramapa MC, IFS, DFO Kohima also spoke on the needs and functions of legality like, Biological Diversity Act 2002, Wild Life Act 1960, Forest Conservation Act 1980, Nagaland Jhumland Act 1970, etc.
Menukhol John, Commissioner & Secretary, Youth Resource & Sports/Team Leader NEPED also spoke during the meeting. He congratulated NCCAF office bearers and the affiliates and said that the Forum have made a milestone in making the conservation priority and working for restoring the lost of state's rich biodiversity. He said, it was not an easy task to do such conservation activities and also urged upon the members present to do better in the coming days.
The Forum has also invited the CCAs those could not make it during its last meeting to join the forum so as to work together for better Nagaland.
