
DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): To facilitate bona-fide residents to exercise their democratic rights and for smooth and peaceful election of the Dimapur Municipal Council, the Naga Council Dimapur, in an extraordinary meeting of councilors held on May 17, resolved that no organizations/groups/individuals/politicians and non-residents of DMC jurisdiction should interfere into the affairs of ULB election for their self-benefits.
In this regard, the NCD appealed all leaders of CSOs, various groups, organizations, individuals not to involve in the affairs of the forthcoming DMC election or create law and order problems/disturbances to the bona fide voters during election campaign and on polling day.
“Any organizations/groups/parties/individuals coming from outside and creating problems will be doing so at their own risk and will be held fully responsible for any consequential unwanted incidents. The NCD will strictly monitor and vigil all such anti-social elements in and around Dimapur district,” the press release issued by its president, Etsungmomo Kikon and general secretary, LK Peter Anal stated.
It appealed to all the electorates to take this ULB election as an opportunity for development and come forward to exercise their franchise/vote and elect the rightful candidates to foster development and progress.
“The electorates/voters should not leave any space for proxy votes against their names. We must take the upcoming ULB election as the beginning of development and progress of the Dimapur city for survive with minimum essential amenities and peaceful co-existences,” it stated.
To facilitate free and fair election and for security of the electorates, the NCD also appealed to the State Government to deploy sufficient security man-power in all polling stations and provide adequate security to the voters. The NCD councilors and Dimapur based CSO’s will also fully assist and co-ordinate with the district administration and law enforcing agencies as required, it added.
