Dimapur, October 27 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has condemned what it described as a “merciless drone attacking strike” allegedly carried out by the Indian Armed Forces on villagers of Khammoi village in Mon district on October 20.
In a statement, the NCD said the incident claimed the lives of two innocent civilians, identified as a student leader, Khampei Wangsa, and a young boy, Phephot Wangsu. The strike also reportedly caused property damage and created a “threatening fear psychosis on the innocent and rustic Naga civilians living in far remote furling areas in the Indo-Myanmar border,” it stated.
“It is beyond the comprehension of the Naga Council that why Indian Armed Forces have systematically organised with latest developed air attack technology to kill the innocent Naga civilians,” the Council said, adding that “Nagas are not missiles of Indian armies, they have killed enough and more lives of Nagas on the pretext of exercising of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA).”
The NCD further appealed that the “self-contented and peaceful living of Nagas should be respected and honoured” and that the Naga people “should not be considered by the Indian Armed Forces as sub-humans who have less right to live.”
The statement was issued by NCD President GK Rengma and General Secretary LK Peter Anal.
