Extends support for ‘genuine Naga Businessmen’
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 11 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD)has resolved to enable the formation of ACAUT Nagaland by “strengthening the ACAUT Movement,” and “allowing for every organization to join the movement and contribute to the greater Naga cause.”
A press note from NCD President, T Bangerloba Ao informed that the house agreed to drop the term “Under the aegis of” as in “ACAUT under the aegis of Naga Council.” It also stressed on the need for every tribal organization in Nagaland to extend their unflinching support for the movement.
In a special meeting held on February 8, the Naga Council decided that the ACAUT Movement should reach out to every corner of Nagaland, taking the confidence of every individual, organization and tribal HoHo in all the districts. This, it stated, must be done in order to bring the “One Government, One Tax” concept, adopted on the October 31, 2013 Public Rally, into fruition.
The house then unanimously approved the nomination of Chingden Konyak as one of the Vice-Presidents of NCD, LL Buming as the other Joint Secretary. Konyak was also nominated as the Naga Council’s representative to the ACAUT, who joins Finance Secretary, Joel Nillo Kath as the second member.
It further demanded that rooms at the newly constructed shopping complex at Forest Colony, Dimapur be allotted only to genuine Naga businessmen. “Under no circumstances should illegal Bangladeshi immigrants (IBIs) be allotted rooms or allowed to run businesses in the complex,” it asserted.
NCD urged the concerned department to solicit the help of the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) in order to identify genuine Naga businessmen. It asserted that the newly built complex should not face the same fate as the Super Market/Naga Shopping Arcade. In this regard, NCD called upon the Forest Department to convene a consultative meeting with tribal bodies, NGOs and business frontal organizations like the CII, Naga Council, DCCI, BAN, CCCTA, NWHD, DNSU, GBs, DUCCCF, YAN, senior citizens, Entrepreneur Associates etc.
