NCP to demand special package for Nagaland

Dimapur, July 22 (MExN): The NCP National General Secretary, Dr Jimmy George, who was in the state today said that the Nationalist Congress Party is planning to ask the central government for “a special package” for the Nagaland.

“Our intention is to get a special package for Nagaland for the development of the people of Nagaland,” said Dr George at tourist Lodge Dimapur at an installation programme of new NCP state leaders.

While the NCP general secretary failed to elaborate on the ‘special package’, the special package might be in the agricultural sector since the state government as already declared a drought like condition recently, and the NCP president is the Union Agriculture Minister and the newly appointed NCP president of Nagaland happens to be Dr Chumben Murry, the Agriculture Minister of Nagaland.

The NCP National Secretary, Dr Jimmy George also, during the installation programme, asserted that since the NCP national president Sharad Pawar is the Union Agriculture president, he would be able to do a lot of things of Nagaland since the state of Nagaland is considered to be an agricultural state.

Dr George expressed hope that the Union Agriculture Minister would play “a vital role” in the development of Nagaland.

Also, while saying that the NCP is not a part and parcel of anything, the NCP general secretary said that the party being a part of the DAN coalition government has been playing its small part in the development of the state. In this regard, he asserted that the NCP party can play an important role since it has three ministers in the present UPA government and that the NCP ministers can do a lot for the state.
