NCSU concerned over work allotment of 4-lane project on National Highway-29

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers Union (NCSU) have reiterated its earlier stand against the company Maytas-Gayatri (JV) carrying out the four-lane project of the Dimapur-Kohima National Highway-29.   The NCSU, in a press note today, affirmed that the concerned company “should first complete their abandoned two-laning projects under Special Accelerated Road Development Project (SARDP) Phase-I.”

It alleged that “Maytas-Gayatri (JV) has fooled the Naga people by abandoning the two-laning road project after the formation cutting only, which has caused immense hardship to the citizens of several districts in the State.”

NCSU reminded that it has been demanding that the joint venture should not be awarded any other major projects in the State unless they complete the SARDP Phase-I project. “However, they have managed to eyewash the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in winning the four-laning of Dimapur-Kohima National Highway,” it lamented.

The NCSU also cautioned that even if the concerned company “goes ahead in implementing the new project, they would be doing it at their own risk as our volunteers would be put on alert round the clock to watch over their activities.”
