Phek, October 11 (MExN): The Phek division of the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (NCSU) has defended its head office statement in opposing the construction of the Dimapur-Kohima four-lane highway by Maytas & Gayatri (JV) and stated that the allegations raised against the company are “not at all unfounded.”
A press release from Phek division NCSU President, Kuzhosheyi Alex, and Secretary, Razou Lohe, also questioned the role of the Commissioner & Secretary of Works & Housing, Government of Nagaland, in this regard. Noting that the said issue is not new and has been projected in the media before, the organization asked where the Commissioner & Secretary of Works & Housing was when the issue had been raised.
“Being silent for the whole time and suddenly taking a U-Turn in the same issue is really unfortunate and mischievous. The allegations leveled against the company are authenticated and based on a fact finding commission,” reiterated the NCSU Phek division.
It reminded that the SARDP works undertaken by the said company were “abruptly abandoned citing silly reasons so as to dupe the Nagas.” The SARDP works (Phase-1), it informed, were awarded to Maytas & Gayatri (JV) and “it is their bounden duty to complete the project as per the agreed terms and specifications.”
“We Nagas as a whole cannot let this Mega-Project slip out of our hands and we will continue to pressurize the company into finishing the SARDP work project before taking up any other projects,” noted the Union’s Phek division.
