NCSU questions “undue delay” in verification

Kohima, November 2 (MExN): The Advisory Committee of the Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has urged the Department Technical Committees and State Level Committees constituted by the State Government on September 20 this year to “speed up the ongoing process of scrutiny and clearance of the pending bills of NCSU members”. In case of “undue delay” in payment, the NCSU has said that it will be compelled to launch the third phase of its agitation in due course.

In a press release from the Convenor, Povotso Lohe, and two members of the Advisory Committee, the NCSU stated that it was “initially hoping that the whole process of scrutiny or re-verification of the pending bills would be completed within 31st October 2012, but this was not done”.

In a general meeting held on September 20, the NCSU had resolved to hold back its third phase of agitation following appeals from the Naga Hoho, Naga Students’ Federation and Naga Mothers’ Association, and assurances from the State cabinet and the Governor of Nagaland that there will be no undue delay in paying outstanding bills of NCSU members after proper verification of pending bills.

“Even after a lapse of more than one and a half months, the process of scrutiny or re-verification of the pending bills in the three departments—PWD (R&B), PWD (Housing) and PHED—are moving very slow,” said the press note. This, according to the NCSU, shows the indifferent attitude of the concerned authorities towards solving the issue of NCSU pending bills.

“We appeal to all concerned to ensure early completion of the process of scrutiny of the pending bills and make payment to the bonafide members of NCSU without further delay,” stated the members of the Advisory Committee of the NCSU.
