NCSU stir drives on for Govt response

Kohima, Nov 21 (MExN): The state-wide poster and banner campaign launched by the Nagaland Contractors and Supplier Union (NCSU) has entered into its fourth day today.

Mention may be made that the NCSU resumed the first phase of agitation in the form of a poster campaign across the state on November 18 following the state government’s failure to attend to the union’s demand to release pending liabilities.

NCSU official today said that it would go ahead with the campaign phases, adding that it has not received response from the government so far. The poster campaign will continue till November 25.

The union also said that in the event of the government’s failure to meet its demand, it would intensify its agitation in the form of  a vehicle procession, stoppage of all government contract works and road blockages etc.

However, the NCSU regretted the ‘inconvenience’ caused to the general public due to the ongoing agitation and requested every individual that the posters, banners etc displayed “should not be torn off, remove etc.”

“Instance, of any individual being caught red-handed by the NCSU will be penalized,” warned NCSU Vice President Y Ntsenthung Tungoe and Secretary KL Setuo Rutsa in a release received here.

The union appealed to every individual to bear with the agitation, “as the union is contemplating to intensify our agitation, in a phased manner, if the government fails to comply with our demand.”

In the meantime, the NCSU, Kiphire unit extended support to  the demand of the NCSU for release of all pending liabilities due to the union.

While expressingsolidarity and cooperation to NCSU head office, the NCSU Kiphire unit General Secretary Y Lio Sangtam also requested the concern authority “to kindly release all the pending bills as soon as possible.”

In a separate release, the Kohima Ao Contractors and Suppliers Union also strongly endorsed the ultimatum served to the government setting November 17 at deadline by NCSU Headquarters and further extended support and cooperation to the ongoing agitation to release pending bills and liabilities.

KACSU president T Wati Jamir and General Secretary Imna Ao also asked the government to fulfill the demand of the NCSU, which it said is “genuine” beyond doubt.
