
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors' and Suppliers" Union (NCSU) has urged all contractors in the districts to prepare their equipment for any emergency situations in view of the monsoon season and heavy rainfall resulting in landslides and flooding in various parts of the state.
A press release from the union urged all contractors with equipment to step forward and assist the public in case of any such incidents. The union said that it is important not to solely rely on the government during these challenging times.
Monsoon preparedness serves as an opportunity for the union to provide service to the people and contribute to the community, it added.
The NCSU said it is crucial to be prepared and proactive in order to prevent further inconveniences and tragedies caused by road blockages, rockfalls, and landslides. The changing season has brought about severe conditions that have unfortunately resulted in loss of life, it rued.
To ensure that such incidents do not occur again, it is important for us to give our best efforts, the union stated. This includes being ready with equipment, actively monitoring and assessing risky areas, and taking necessary measures to prevent or mitigate potential hazards. “By doing so, we can contribute to the safety and well-being of the public and help alleviate the difficulties they face during this challenging time,” the NCSU maintained.
The union meanwhile expressed gratitude to the Roads and Bridges Department, Minister of Roads and Bridges G Kaito Aye; Commissioner and Secretary to Chief Minister, Works and Housing Kesonyü Yhome; Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang; and NHIDCL Executive Director (Nagaland) Amarendra Narayan Singh. “These individuals have taken the time to meet with the union on various occasions and have provided their full support in addressing their grievances and listening to their concerns,” the union informed.
It further appreciated their willingness to prioritize these matters despite their busy schedules. “This demonstrates the government's concern and support for the union. In return, the union pledges its full support to the government whenever it is needed. This mutual cooperation and collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to the betterment of the state and its people,” the NCSU said.
