Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): The New Chumukedima Village Council (NCVC) has once again reminded all concerned that picnicking in and around within their village jurisdiction, except parks has been banned with effect from June 1, 2018 until further notice.
“This decision was taken after deliberate discussion by the various village functionaries,” stated a press release issued by S. Bao Hama, Chairman NCVC and Zakievisie Kruse, Secretary NCVC.
It is also reaffirmed that hunting, fishing with electrocuting machines, gill nets, use of chemical and collection of forest products are not allowed within its jurisdiction. “Violators of the stated restrictions will be punished as per the village laws,” the NCVC added.
The release also added that as much as the need and value of leisure times are acknowledge, the ban on picnic has been necessitated on account of numerous unpleasant incidents caused by irresponsible picnickers which has to be bored by the villagers as the inhabitants of the area. These reasons includes polluting the environment by blasting of crackers, breaking of bottles, littering of the river which serves as the source of water supply for domestic consumption to Dimapur and its extended colonies including Sovima Village, drunken picnickers engaging in and above all indulging in indecent and immoral activities openly which is unethical and detrimental for healthy societal conduct.
