The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency held its consultative meeting today at Hotel Japfu, Kohima.

Addressing the meeting, Nagaland’s CAWD & Taxes advisor Kudecho Khamo, who is an elected representative from 18th Chozuba A/C, sought for unity and understanding among the leaders to work for the party and the constituency as the electorates have given the mandate to bring about change and development for the people.

He described Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the undisputed leader, adding that under his leadership the NDPP party had grown and penetrated into the grassroots and is well accepted despite being  a new political party.

Khamo called upon the party leaders not to leave alone to the MLA for the fulfillment of the common desire but to take it as a shared responsibility of everyone to work together for the upliftment of the constituency.

He informed the meeting that the Nagaland Municipal Act (NMA) 2001 was repealed by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) as it contravened the Article 371 (A) which the civil societies have opposed and he opined that it is one of the greatest decisions taken by the government in the recent times.

Khamo also said that the government is working to interpret the modalities and applications of the Article 371 (A). The Advisor appealed to the party workers to work to the best they can offer for society and for the future generations, living an honest life while keeping the good virtues and traditions of ancestors.

Venture into entrepreneurship
Touching on youth empowerment, Khamo pointed out the need for the youth to venture into entrepreneurship, adding that government jobs are already saturated and one needs to fight through competition alone.

He pointed out the need to boost the rural economy, pointing out that the people have fertile soil to venture into agriculture and horticulture, to enhance the income and livelihood of the farmers and entrepreneurs.

Early resolution of Naga political issue
NDPP Working President Nuzota Swuro in his speech maintained that the NDPP is working in all seriousness for early resolution of the protracted Naga political issue. He told the party workers to work in line with the party’s ideologies and stand by the government as various initiatives will be undertaken for people’s welfare and interest.
