NDPP congratulates Dr SC Jamir on Padma Bhushan

Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): NDPP President, Chingwang Konyak has conveyed congratulations to Dr SC Jamir on being awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India.

“I am pleased to learn this morning that the former Chief Minister of Nagaland and the former Governor of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha, Dr SC Jamir’s lifetime of dedication to the welfare of the public has been recognised by the Government of India,” said Konyak in an appreciation note.

“Dr Jamir’s concern for our people and his political foresight is legendary, and the very fact that he is the sole surviving signatory of the 16-point Agreement which has brought the people of Nagaland thus far speaks volumes about the far-sightedness he had even when he was young.”

The rank and file of the NDPP joined Konyak in conveying heartfelt congratulations to the veteran Naga politician on the occasion. It prayed to “the Almighty” to grant him good health, long life and eternal wisdom to continue “to be the pride of the Naga people, a guide to a better future and also bring more laurels to our people.”
Dr Jamir was conferred the ‘Padma Bhushan’ in the field of ‘Public Affairs.’
