Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): The NDPP leadership held a Zoom meeting with the Central Youth Organisation on June 6.
Chaired by Merentoshi R Jamir, Spokesperson and Convenor of the Media & Communications Committee, the meeting was attended by Secretary General of the Party Abu Metha, President Youth Organisation Kelhouneizo Yhome, General Secretary T L Merry, other central leaders and members of the Youth Organisation.
The Youth Organisation expressed their appreciation to all the Government machineries, front line workers, NGOs and especially the Chief Minister, who have been tirelessly working to combat COVID-19.
Merentoshi, advised the house to discuss and share views and suggestions in the next meetings to find ways to support and render any help possible under the banner of the Youth Organisation. He also urged the youth to make all efforts to help people during these challenging times and ensure that the programmes and policies of the government reach the people in the grass root level.
Various instructions were also given to improve media communication with the rank and file in all regions.
Concluding the meeting, Abu Metha thanked the Youth Organisation for being active in various social media platforms. He also advised them to refrain from using profanity in social media or engage in dirty paper wars, “even though we have witnessed many who have been blatantly attacking without proper information or with ulterior motives.”
He said that responsible leaders must make constructive criticism and defend the government with facts and accurate details. He advised the youth to refrain from making slanderous statements, practise social media responsibility but respond to slanderous criticism with truth and maturity.
He also motivated the youth to rise to the occasion and use the tools of modern technology and social media to change the narrative to a positive scenario for the overall betterment of society.
