Pughoboto, July 27 (MExN):The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Pughoboto Region conducted an installation programme for its newly appointed office bearers for the 2024–2027 tenure at the RD Hall in Pughoboto on July 26. The event was graced by Advisor for Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, and MLA-in-charge of the region, KT Sukhalu, as the special guest.
In a brief address, Y Vikheho Swu, former Minister and newly appointed President of the NDPP Agri and Allied Organisation, thanked the Chief Minister and the NDPP leadership for the confidence reposed in him by entrusting him with the new responsibility. He acknowledged the Chief Minister’s developmental initiatives in the Pughoboto area and urged party office bearers and members to “collectively strive toward a state of excellence in the region.”
“Pughoboto has potential,” remarked Advisor Sukhalu during his address, citing the successful hosting of events such as the Thanamir Apple Festival and the recently concluded Longmatra Mango Festival. He noted the region's fertile land and strategic proximity to the state capital as significant advantages for agricultural and socio-economic development.
Encouraging party members to work in collaboration with the government for the holistic advancement of the region, Sukhalu reaffirmed the Chief Minister’s faith in Vikheho Swu’s leadership. He also urged NDPP members to focus on strengthening the party structure at the grassroots level.
Other speakers at the programme included Zhuwoto Kiba, Vice President, Central Executive Body (CEB) of the NDPP; Lukiqhe Assumi, Joint Secretary, CEB, NDPP; outgoing president Kughakhu Sheqi; and the newly appointed regional president, Viyikhu Wotsa.
Following the installation of office bearers, the party held its first general meeting where discussions on regional party affairs took place.
The event witnessed the participation of members from the NDPP Central bodies, regional office bearers, and party chairmen and secretaries representing all villages under the Pughoboto region.
